Camp Dream Catcher
We are very excited to share 2 news articles with you that were written about Camp Dream Catcher's Summer of 2008 session and the fun that was had there! Article #1 is from "The Pulse Journal", a Liberty Township paper and Article #2 is taken from the "Kentucky Post".
Camp Dream Catcher is uniquely designed to give children with epilepsy the typical camping experience that their peers enjoy with the added guidance of trained epilepsy specialists to care for their specific needs. There are educational programs that take place throughout the session to help the campers learn about their epilepsy and ways to cope with its challenges. The children have the opportunity to establish friendships with other children who also have epilepsy and hopefully develop a lasting support system in their lives. Most of all though, the kids have a GREAT time at camp. They take part in such activities as: hiking, arts & crafts, swimming, archery, horseback riding, fishing, boating, shooting BB guns, canoeing, kayaking, hay rides, singing, scaling a climbing wall and much, much more. Camp Dream Catcher creates memories to last a lifetime!
Camping opportunities include a yearly spring weekend camp, a summer week of camp and a fall weekend camp.
The schedule for upcoming camps is:
- Spring 2010 weekend camp. . . Friday, April 16, 2010-Sunday, April 18, 2010.
- Summer 2010 camp. . . Sunday, July 18, 2010-Thursday, July 22, 2010.
The cost of camp is $125.00 for the weekend camps and $350.00 for the week of camp. If needed, there is financial assistance available through PACE (Parents Against Childhood Epilepsy, Inc.), Family Resources, and the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Cincinnati. The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Cincinnati is committed to all kids who want to attend camp and will work with everyone to make their attendance at camp possible!
To take part in camp or to ask any questions about camp, e-mail Mark Findley, the Camp Director at: mark.findley@cincinnatiepilepsy.org.
In order to attend camp, all campers need the following two forms completed. The first is the Participant Enrollment Form that parents and/or guardians can fill out. The second is the Master Medical Form that your primary care physician or neurologist needs to fill out. When completed, send these forms to our main office.
